Day 75. Rite of Passage.
Yesterday I won Mindblown, phase two of Mission 44. Below are the phase one (Project 43) and phase two charts side by side:
I meant to create a post about this yesterday but ran out of time before we left the house. It was the first day of Spring Break for my wife and our little one and they decided that they wanted to spend the day at Animal Kingdom, so off we went. It was a nice day and the park was not overly crowded, and we got to ride on the Kilimanjaro Safari, Primeval Whirl, and both of the rides in Pandora. The Safari was special because it was the third day that the new baby giraffe was in the open and my wife got a great picture of him with his family.
The most rewarding part of the day, even more than the satisfaction of achieving the goal (which I had already accomplished the day before), was riding Avatar Flight of Passage. We have tried for Fast Passes for this ride ever since it opened and never have any luck. Yesterday we decided we would brave the line and ride it. When I got onto the ride vehicle, I was afraid that I might not be able to ride because a locking device that was supposed to supposed to come up to my back didn't click into place. The cast member saved me, though, and told me he was going to give it a little push and I heard it click. I was good to go! The ride was amazing and lived up to all of the expectations that I had after hearing so much about it.
As we left the ride, I commented to my wife that I wouldn't have been able to ride if we had ever gotten a Fast Pass during our earlier attempts. I would have been too big. After the 50+ pound weight loss, however, I just made it onto the ride. It was like I unlocked a hidden bonus simply by achieving my goal yesterday.
This morning I made the new chart. I'm ready for phase three, which I'm calling Spring Cleanout. The goal is smaller as I've noticed the rate at which I lose weight has dropped off somewhat.
Today is a completely new day. While I'm happy with the previous accomplishments, I'm not going to sit back and admire them. There's an ultimate goal 10-and-a-half-months from now and I'm ready to get started.
Off we go!

Things like abandoning prescribed medicines and walking for miles while dealing with morbid obesity are bad ideas, but I'm an idiot and do them anyway. Don't be like me.
