Day 29. Nuking the Plateau.

What a beautiful sight.

After waking up to 324.0 three days in a row, this number was a joy to behold. I know it came at the end of a 42-hour fast, and I know that it could skyrocket back up after a few meals, but for the moment I am very happy to be back on track. I am still learning how my body responds to all of these extreme measures that I'm experimenting with, so I'm hoping that I can maintain something close to this number until Thursday morning.

I've since broken the fast and feel very full after two eggs, two sausage links and a cup of coffee. It was all so delicious. I have planned a lunch of fresh broccoli with dill dip, then a dinner of snapper with pesto, edamame, and zoodles. The sodium's relatively low, the carbs are low, and the calories are right on target. Tomorrow will be a field trip to Kennedy Space Center with my daughter and I have a meal plan for the day. I will not allow myself to blow this goal right at the end.

The fast wasn't all that bad. I began at about 5 pm Sunday, then had nothing but water all day Monday. After my 4.5 mile walk on Monday morning, I was at 322.2. Not back on track yet, but parallel to the green line:

I drank eight glasses of water and continued to check my weight throughout the day. As much water went out as was going in and I stayed stable at 322.2. I marked this weight at bedtime.

After a sleep that saw many strange food-centric dreams and two very long middle-of-the-night old man pees, I woke up under 320 for the first time in a very long time. I went on a three mile walk, hoping that it might move the number at least a little, but the scale stood firm at 319.6. I even took out the batteries in a futile attempt to make it forget who was crushing it, but it was no good. No matter; I was ecstatic that the nuclear option worked for me, no matter how temporary this weight loss may be. The number was recorded and the milestones marked.

I'm back on track and almost there. One half-day today and a full day tomorrow, then a four mile walk on Thursday morning and I'll know if Project 43 is a success.

319.3 is within reach, friends.

Stay tuned for the thrilling conclusion!

I'm not a doctor, and when you read things in my blog they are not meant as advice to you or anyone else. They are simply a record of my own experience. Things like abandoning prescribed medicines and walking for miles while dealing with morbid obesity are bad ideas, but I'm an idiot and do them anyway. Don't be like me.
